Hurricane Ian 2022

Dear guests,

after one of the most devastating hurricanes Florida has ever seen, we would like to give you a brief overview of the current situation, the condition of our house and the overall situation in Lee County.

In the period from September 28th to 29th, 2022, Ian raged for more than 14 hours, causing great damage and leaving behind a picture of devastation.

Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, Pine Island, North Fort Myers and the southwest of Cape Coral were particularly affected. We are very grateful that our Villa Summerland escaped with relatively minor injuries. Our biggest concern was the flooding of the house. But thank God the whole house stayed dry. The screen fields of the cage got hit, but everything is repairable.

After 6 days without electricity and water, the house is now habitable again and electricity and water are available again, so that the AC, pool pump, fridge and freezer are running again. We are therefore very optimistic that Villa Summerland will probably be available again for our guests from October 20th, 2022.

Our property Robert and Tanja Soika do everything in their power and we thank them very much for their tireless commitment. Many helping hands and the strong will of the residents are the basis for the infrastructure to be rebuilt as quickly as possible. The situation improves every day. Many trucks reach Cape Coral. Gasoline, food, building materials and much more.

There is currently an incredible sense of togetherness and everyone helps each other and you can feel the incredible will to restore paradise as quickly as possible.

So much for a first assessment and information.

Best wishes

Sincerely, Gabi & Markus Jansen
